Woops, no updates for a while, huh? Believe it or not, we’ve been busy.
We had a great time at Church, we’re delighted to be back Wednesday December 19th as part of Preacher Jack’s residency.
We’ve been doing pre-production for our next album — we’ll be recording in December for a spring 2008 release. We’re working again with Chris Cugini at Appleman studio.
We have another compilation appearance, this time on Heyday Records Sometimes I Think I’m On TV, which also features artists like Tommy Tutone, David J (Bauhaus, Love and Rockets), and Marty Willson-Piper (The Church). Our contribution is "Turn It Up." When we mastered Tune You Out, we actually did two master mixes. This compilation features the alternate ("70’s punk") version.

You can now listen to The Hyphens at LastFM.com.

update: Now available to Pre-order from Amazon
In case you need a reminder, we contributed a track to this song-by-song tribute to the Clash’s longest album. So did Blizzard of ‘78 (our producer/guru Chris Cugini’s band) and a whole lot of other folks.

After almost 40 years, the Kirkland Cafe is closing its doors as new ownership takes over in June. The Kirkland Cafe was always
very supportive of The Hyphens (and many other bands), and we’re saddened by the loss.
Booker Mickey Bliss is putting together a two-night “Memorial Meltdown,” and we’re proud to be part of an excellent bill with Radio Knives, The Coffin Lids, Red Invasion, and many more. We’re on Saturday May 26th, at 10pm.
The Hyphens will play this show as a trio, as John Skinner is no longer with the band. We wish John well in his future endeavors, musical and otherwise.

We’re gonna take some new stuff out for a trial run at the the Kirkland Cafe tonight, then it’s a Halloween Bash at Jacques Underground (Saturday 28 Oct, early show — we’re on at 9), the aforementioned Guided By Voice tribute show at PA’s, and then the release party for our new record, Get It Straight on Friday 1 Dec at The Abbey.
So, yeah, it’s kinda busy time in Hyphens-land.

How was the rest of your summer? It’s been a while since we’ve talked. We’ve been writing new stuff, working on the upcoming CD, and bemoaning the state of the Red Sox. How ’bout you?
We’re popping up for a quick show at the Kirkland Cafe on Thursday October 12th, with Julie White, other acts TBA. We’re on at ten.

Today we got our confirmed song selections for A Salty Salute, the upcoming Guided by Voices tribute show.
We got most of our first-choice picks (and a couple of the ones we didn’t get went to some damned fine bands). The joint is gonna rock.
